In my class students will be exposed to:
- A variety of skills and activities that relate to sports, lifetime fitness, and leisure activities.
- A variety of rules and strategies of particular activities, games, and/or sports.
- Various exercise training programs that help maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Activities that promote understanding of movement, kinetics, and the human body.
- Competition as individuals and in teams.
Class Behavior Expectations
- Act respectful towards classmates, teacher, and classroom assistants.
- Contribute to a positive learning environment.
- Show good sportsmanship.
- Respect school equipment.
- Do not use profanity or use inappropriate gestures
- THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR TEASING, INTIMIDATING, OR SEXUAL HARASSMENT.
PE Uniform
The PJHS PE uniform consists of the following:
- PE SHIRT - $10
- PURPLE SHORTS - $10
- ATHLETIC SHOES - should have proper support and be tied tightly; this is to maximize safety and performance
- SWEATS are optional but if worn must plain grey OR purchased from PJHS PE - $15 (each item)
- The PE uniform is designed to meet PJHS dress code standards as well as improve performance, safety, comfort and hygiene.
- PE clothing should be clearly labeled on the name plates with their first initial and last name
- Students may purchase new/additional/replacement PE clothes from any PE teacher at any time.
- Some students may wish to purchase a second set of PE clothes to keep as backup.

Notebooks
- Students will need to purchase a spiral notebook for this class.
Medical
It is important that parents/students communicate any medical concerns with the PE teacher
- All medical notes should specify a student's restrictions and/or modifications.
- NO PARTICIPATION = NO CREDIT unless assignments are made up.
- Student still dresses for PE
- Student will be given a modified/alternate assignment
- Students not participating at all will be required to do an alternate assignments or PE make ups
- May excuse a student from dressing and/or limit their physical activity.

ABSENCE MAKEUPS
- Physical Education is a participatory class; therefore it is important students attend regularly.
- PE instructional minutes are mandated by the State of California - therefore missed classes must be made up in order to receive credit.
- PE or makeup credit can not be given for outside activities, athletics/sports, practices, etc.
- After an absence, it is the student's responsibility to contact the teacher to find out what assignments need to be made up. Usually 2 makeup sessions are required for each class missed (but only 1 make up is required for 6th grade and 0 period PE) however the student should still always check first with his/her teacher about makeups.
- Makeup work must be completed by the end of each grading period.
- Non-dresses may not be made up.
- It is up to the individual teacher to decide if a student can make up absences/work during a suspension.
- Students participating in makeups are to meet at the gym roll call numbers (near the fire hydrant).
- For makeups students must be dressed, on time and bring a MAKEUP FORM.
- The MAKEUP FORM is available online, in the main office and in the school library.
- Regular makeups will be held rain or shine - however running test makeups may not be possible if it is raining.
- Please check the PE MAKEUP SCHEDULE for available days/times.
- Makeup days/times are subject to change based on school schedules, special events and/or teacher availability.
Tardies:
- Student starts the day with a 70%.
- Student may be excused with a signed pass.
Locker Room Expectations:
- Students must lock all personal items in their locker. Do not bring valuables to school.
- Students are not to share lockers.
- The school is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the locker room. Each period is responsible for cleaning up before leaving.
- Get dressed and get to class.
